"you look so pretty!" Cami said hugging her when she got there the next morning.
"you look pretty stunning yourself cam"
"so you ready to go?"
"sure am" max said, as they walked out the door.
"god i cant believe we are fixing to graduate" Cami said in the car. "i mean..its like we were just meanting for the first time like yesterday" Cami said turning to look at max
max smiled back at her.
"your not fixing to get all mushy on me are you?"
"its just....we were just freshman the other day...and now...were fixing to walk across the stage ..get that diploma...go off to college...marry and have kids"
"WHOA! cam no so fast" max said leaning back.
"its a little scary isn't it max"
"yea...just a little" max sighed. " but we have so much to look forward to...especially you...with your softball and all..
"OH MY GOSH! I CANT BELIEVE I DIDN'T TELL YOU!" Cami practically yelled
"what!?..tell me what?!"
"i got the scholarship!"
"the softball scholarship?" max said leaning forward with a shocked look on her face.
"yea!" Cami squilled
"oh my gosh cam! thats great!" max said leaning over to give her what best a hug she could give her while she was driving.
sitting there in their gowns, maxs looked around. it was silly.that she expected to see Harley somewhere out there. s if shed still come even after they weren't together.
"MISS MAX HOLLAND"
"thats you" Cami whispered to max as she got up, turning to give her a hug before walking on stage. as she walked on stage she thought about what her and Cami had talked about, she was right, they were practically starting all over, with a new life. Max smiled as she took the diploma turning, so the photographer could take the picture.
"WHOO GO MAX! Priscilla yelled
"THATS MY GIRL!" Cami shouted.
smiling max walked off stage and returned to her seat.
"MISS CAMI WILLIAMS"
"cam" max said turning and giving her a hug before she walked on stage.
"GO CAMI!" max and Priscilla shouted as Cami walked on stage, receiving her diploma, posing for her picture and walking of to take her seat.
"well ...we did it bestie" Cami said linking her arm in maxs.
"we sure did" max said. looking at Cami ans smiling
the graduation party was a blast. the school hired a DJ who played all the latest hits.
"dance with me!" Cami said running over and grabbing max. the party lasted well into the afternoon, were they then took it to Priscilla house and had yet another party.
"congrats to us" Priscilla said coming in the room and toasting a drink with max and Cami
"to us..and a great future" Cami said.
"hey guys i think im gonna head home" max said.
"you sure?"...parties just getting started. Priscilla said dancing around a little Cami laughed.
"yea..catch you guys later"
"oh! max!."Cami said grabbing her by the arm "congrats again" she said hugging her once more.
"cam its a graduation..not a goodbye" max said. they stood there a moment before max left.
ONE WEEK LATER...
"ok you got the bags?"
"check"
"and the sunscreen?"
"check"
"softball bag"
"yes cam..i got it"
"well just making sure..i cant play in a tournament if i dont have my necessities" Cami said as they loaded the stuff in the trunk. they had just gotten back from Florida. both still a little sunburned, having one day to unpack, wash and repack before headed to the softball tournament that following day.
"isn't this fun" Cami said, after they finished packing and were headed to the tournament "me..and you...road trip! Cami slightly screamed
"yea..lots of fun cam"
"oh i dont expect you to have fun..im making you go" Cami said laughing at little
"actually...i am having fun" max said looking at her
"really?"Cami said turning and looking at her.
"well...were going to be going off to college soon...and wont get to be...attached at the hip like we are now" max said turning and grinning at her "and to be honested...i think im gonna miss it" max said, a little tickle in her throat.
"aw dont cry bestie...were always gonna be close...no matter what"
"promise?" max said
"promise" Cami said linking her pinky in maxs
"god it i see another softball..it will be to soon" Priscilla said, getting out of her truck and helping max max with her stuff.
"no worries sweetheart...you got nationals...and then next year" Cami said winking at Priscilla
"cant wait" she said smiling at Cami as she turned taking maxes things in her house and setting them on the floor.
"thanks" max said coming up and hugging her
"no problem..will see ya around" Priscilla said as she turned and walked back to her truck.
"see ya!" Cami yelled. max waved as they drove off, then breathed a sigh of relief. she could relax a little at least for a week or so until her flight. she was going to an out of state college.
"god" max said. coming and sitting on the coach. time was going by to fast, it was like they graduated yesterday. Cami was right. before they new it they would be parents. and then they'd grow old and die.ok stop thinking like that max she told her self as she got up and headed upstairs. you still got a whole life ahead of you,. she stood in the bathroom examining her hair for any Grey areas.none that she could see. hearing her cell ringing she quickly ran into her room.
"hello?"
"hey" it was Harley
"h..hey"
"how was graduation..sorry i missed it by the way"
"oh no its ok...it went well"
"no its not i really wanted to be there...vie just been so swamped with work...i tried getting off early..but when i got there..it was already over" she sounded disappointed.
"its ok really i understand"
"so..what have you been up to this summer?"
"softball" max said laughing.
"your playing softball this summer?" Harley asked.
"no..Cami is...and shes taken it to dragging me to every game there is..home or away...actually we just got back today from tournaments"
"thats great..tell Cami i said congrats"
" i will" max said
"looking at colleges yet?" Harley asked.
"actually..im already signed up for one in Chicago...ill be leaving in about a week or so.."
"..thats...great" Harley said.
"what about you?" max asked.
"i dont know yet...i mean...i know what college..i just dont know what to major in"
"what about police like you always wanted"
"yea..thought about that...what are you majoring in?"
"veterinarian"
"...just like what we talked about"Harley said.
"yea.." max said.sitting on the edge of her bed.
"well i hope to talk to you before you leave, if not..have a safe trip" Harley said.
"yea..thanks"

"...bye Harley"she closed her cell. god why did it have to be goodbye
