it was all max could do to pay attention in class the next day. all she could think about what Harley at lunch she sat there picking at her food with a fork, starring at it.
"hey" Cami said as Priscilla and Jordan walked up. Priscilla smiled at Cami, looking over at max.
"hey" she said starting to sit down infront of Cami as she always did. Jordan hesitated a moment, stopping the table, she glanced down at max.
"hey, i think im gonna go sit with LC and them today...alright" Jordan said as she turned walking off. max looked up to watch her go before continuing to play with her food.
Priscilla sat there a moment before getting up herself.
"uh...yea..im gonna go ..sit with her...later" she said slightly glancing at max before heading after Jordan.
Cami sat there a moment, watching Jordan glancing over every now and then at their table at max. Cami looked back and forth between them and max.
"oh no...what are you doing max...what are you doing" Cami moaned.
max continued to play with her food.
"max what happened last night?"
"why dont you ask Priscilla" max said not bothering to look up at her.
"i haven't had time to talk to Priscilla believe it or not, and i didnt ask Priscilla, im asking you" Cami said looking down at her.
"i went over to jordans" max finally said.
"you what?" Cami said, turning sideways and looking down at her. "why would you do that?"
"because Cami..i needed to know"

"max listen to me...theres nothing going on..ok?"
"again..its nice to see you know more about my life than i do" max said slightly looking sideways at Cami.
"yea...yea..i probably do max...because we have been friends since freaking pre k!...i know you..i know you well enough to know you DON'T always make clear decisions,... and neither do i...but thats why we have each other to help us get back on track when we loose it! .....and i know you well enough to know there is NOTHING going on!" Cami said stopping a moment before continuing. "and why you want to hurt something so perfect between you and Harley over...
"Cami we broke up"
twirling around instantaneously Cami looked down at max.
"yall what?'
"we broke up"
"WHY!?..WHAT HAPPENED"
"i just told you cam..what do you think"
"OK .....THATS IT!" Cami said practically yelling. " max...you love Harley! Harley loves you! yall are PERFECT for each other!....everybody knows that!...so why are you going to ruin something that is so obviously meant to be!?" Cami said starring at her. max said nothing.
"max you are my best friend..and i am NOT about to let you make a stupid mistake over a..stud chick like that!" Cami said pointing in jordans direction.max just narrowed her eyes up at her.
"shes not your type! and your not hers..
"stop yelling !" max said looking up at her
"im sorry max! but i cant help but NOT yell at you !" Cami said jumping to her feet as she starred at her. "you got me so pissed off right now!"
"well im sorry ok?!' max said looking up at her "....im sorry.."
"ugh!" was all Cami could manage, turning away from her a moment, before turning back toward her as she studied her a moment before bending down next to her.
"max...you were so happy with Harley...you were always SO..HAPPY when your with her....you two make SUCH a good couple..and a great team!..max... i dont understand..why you want to give up everything you've ever wanted....everything you've ever dreamed...i mean...did Harley not even try to stop you ..what did she say max?..what all went down?"
max sat there a moment before telling her in detail what all happened.
"so she tried to fix things! max!..what is going through your head!?"
"i dont know"
"..yall mean the world to each other!..now you listen to me and you listen to me good! when that bell rings this afternoon, you are going to get your ass in that car, your going to go to her house and you are going...
"i cant do that cam"
"why the fuck not!?" Cami said standing back up
"because i just cant" max said looking down at the table
"max you listen to me" Cami said bending down so close she was practically touching her face. "if you think i am just going to sit here and let you mope around, filling sorry for yourself instead of trying to fix things, like you SHOULD be doing! you thought wrong! you are not a quitter max! your not!...coach always tells us theres no such thing as cant!...well you know what max! cant never could! because cant never TRIED!....god i sound like my coach" Cami said standing back up sort of surprised. "but thats not the point max...the point is..your not a quitter...what are you going to do when something really big happens down the road when you and Harley get married...its gonna totally rip yall apart because you cant handle the little stuff now!...you just wanna give up!..well i got news for you max!...cant and quit dont fly with me...there not in my vocab and they shouldn't be in yours..unless you put em together..cant quit...thats you max! you cant quit!" Cami said looking down at her. the bell signaled the end of lunch. Cami continued to stand there starring at her as people walked past filing out of the lunch room.
"by god your going to harleys house today max!..even if i have to miss softball practice to take you myself! ..ill do it!" Cami said turning on her heels and walking off.
the last bell rang for the day as max got up and headed for her locker. Opening her locker she grabbing what she needed for the night and closed her locker, startled as Cami was right there.
"your going right?'
"going were" max said turning and walking, she rolled her eyes.
"to harleys...max you cant fix things if you dont TRY to fix them!"
"Cami i cant"
"and theres that word again..max..what did i tell you ear..
"i dont care what coach says!..im not in softball! max said continuing to walk
"its not about softball max!" Cami snapped.
max stopped, but didnt turn around.
"max you have yet to explain to me why you cant go" Cami said starring at her. max said nothing for a moment.

"thats not an answer max!...will you at least look at me! ...i what!..what is the deal!..what is wrong...
"EVERYTHING!" max said turning and looking at her, she was starting to cry. Cami just stood there looking at her.
"everything cam...yes i love Harley..im in love with her!...but..i..i kissed another girl...i kissed another girl...and i cant just forget it...when it may have not meant nothing to Jordan..cam....but it did to me...i felt a little attraction...and as much as id love to say "oh it was just a kiss!" i cant cam!..my fillings and emotions are everywhere right now!...im so confused!..i just need time to think....do you understand that?" max said looking back at her.
Cami stood there a moment, sort of shocked.
"...yea...yea..i got it...see you tomorrow" Cami said grabbing her softball bag and walking off. max stood there a moment watching her walk off as tears streamed down her cheek. whipping tears from her eyes she turned and walked out the door
